About Doug

District 1 Commissioner Douglas B. Shields has broad experience in government, business, education and nonprofit work.

Since his 2010 arrival in Lake County, Doug has successfully demonstrated his great passion for protecting the rights and investments of community citizens against the threats of traffic, pollution and excessive development in treasured rural areas. He recently traveled the world for three years teaching entrepreneurship to U.S. military veterans so that they may continue their service as brave new leaders in our growing economy. Doug also actively supports his entrepreneurial wife, Sue, in her growing property management business.
